Basic Rider Course Update Information

Successful completion of a Basic Rider Course is now mandatory for motorcycle licensing in Texas!

As a state-contracted provider of the Motorcycle Safety Foundation® Basic Rider Course™ (BRCu) in the Rio Grande Valley, Keep It On 2's BRCu course will teach you on a entry level motorcycle (125cc-250cc), the fundamentals of safety and enjoyment in motorcycling .

The BRCu course is approximately 15 hours of classroom and on-cycle instruction conducted over a two-day session. Prior to the first day of class, an online e-course must be completed and a certificate of completion must be presented at the start of the first day.

The Classroom time consists of approximately 5 hours of Rider Coach-led discussions and student interactive activities. The  On-cycle exercises will provide basic techniques and street strategies including straight-line riding, defensive maneuvering, turning, shifting, and braking to help you in everyday situations.

Weekend and weekday classes are available. Whichever class you choose, attendance at all sessions is mandatory and successful completion of both the written exam and on-cycle evaluation is required to receive your Texas DPS MSB-8 completion card.  This card is needed to obtain your motorcycle Class M endorsement.
Important Note: Students not presenting the e-course certification of completion at the start of the first day of class, arriving late or failing to attend any session forfeit their tuition. All times subject to change.
